About

We Work To Impact Lives Of Women Around The Globe

According to the World Chess Federation (FIDE), only 13% of registered chess players are female. All levels, from entry-level to professional, show this gender discrepancy. Chess is not just a game, but a great empowerment tool that strongly aid cognitive development, resilience, problem-solving, just to mention a few. To help women and girls develop their critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, we want to provide them with the opportunity to learn and play the game of chess. Promoting Queens also seeks to improve gender equality and encourage women to realize their potential in chess and other aspects of their lives.

The Genesis

Perpetual Ogbiyoyo’s love for chess began when she was 19 years old. She was fascinated by the coordination of chess pieces and intrigued by each piece’s unique way of moving. But little did she know that her fascination with chess was only the beginning of her incredible journey.

As a female athlete competing in a male-dominated sport, Perpetual faced numerous challenges. But she never gave up on her dream, becoming a Woman Fide Master and winning the Nigerian Women’s Chess Championship twice. Her unwavering determination and perseverance are truly inspiring.

Motivated by her experience, Perpetual established the Promoting Queens Chess Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women through chess. Through this foundation, she hopes to provide women with the support they need to advance their careers and achieve their dreams. Perpetual’s goal is to inspire women to follow their passions, overcome challenges, and succeed in all aspects of their lives.
